I have a folder I would like to share but it gives me an error saying I can't share because there is a shared folder below. How do I find this folder to move it? There are hundreds of folders and no ...

I've split your post off into its own thread as it didn't relate to the topic you originally replied on.
There's no longer an easy way to locate shared folders. Dropbox, in their infinite wisdom and desire to continue removing features we rely on, have changed the Sharing page to only show shared folders that you can add to your account.
You'll need to browse your folder hierarchy and locate the shared folder yourself. The folder icon for a shared folder will have people on it. Also, if you're looking at your folders on the Dropbox website, the Members column will indicate folders that have other members in them.

Thank you for the info! I just talked to the Chat support of Dropbox as well.
The removal of that specific feature,"overview of shared folders" is total bull**bleep** in my opinion.
How can some devs decide to do that?!
What happened in their mind? Why does something think this is not crucial?!

I agree we need this feature back! I am a part of so many shared folders that it was enormously helpful to have a single place in Dropbox where I could view all of my shared folders (ones shared with me and ones that I initiated the share). It made managing them so much easier because the way I have my folders structured means that I have shared folders all over the place.
I get that we can use Teams and Groups to add or remove members from several shared folders, but that seems best for onboarding/offboarding permanent members of a team/department. It's just not practical for project teams when we sometimes have 100 projects a year just in our one division and most projects are completed within that year. We would end up with hundreds of inactive groups that we have to keep in case someone needs to reference the materials in Dropbox for that project.
So this is an upvote for bringing back the shared folder view!
- lycra7 years agoCollaborator | Level 8I so hope so that Dropbox will reconsider... The unfortunate thing is that it does not seem they would care very much..
- larsdennert7 years agoCollaborator | Level 10Looking at an unshared folder either on the web or PC doesn't give any indication that there aren't any shared folders below. The only way I can see at this point to find them is to go down the branch and try to share each subdirectory until you get an error. Then drill down further through hundreds of folders until you find the shared one.
Dropbox should be simple. I shouldn't have to deal with it. It should just work and do it's job. The decisions DB has made lately is alienating it's customers.- Mark7 years agoSuper User II

Dropbox seem to be removing lots of the helpful intuitive features it originally had :(
- River7 years agoDropbox StaffHi larsdennert,Thank you for the feedback on locating shared folders deep within your folder stucture. This issue with locating sub-folders has been brought up with our enginnering team and they are evaluating how best to resolve this issue. When we redesigned dropbox.com/share, our goal was to declutter this page, and to focus your attention on content you can add to your Dropbox. We didn’t make any changes to the actions that you can take with shared folders. We removed ‘Folders in your Dropbox’, because those folders can be found other places within the structure of your Dropbox account. To see the folders that appeared in the ‘Folders in your Dropbox’ section, you can filter the Files page on dropbox.com by type. To do this:1. Go to dropbox.com2. Click Files in the left side bar3. Click the “Modified” filter at the top of the page. “Modified” is the default selection for this filter.4. Select “Type” to see all the shared folders in your Dropbox account grouped togetherYou can read more about filtering your files here:Best,River

What do you mean by easier done than said?
For Dropbox it should not be a problem to get back that overview which they had previously in their system...
