Sorry I don't know what happened, but when I tried the same thing today, it did not ask me what app to open the file with and directly opened it with Excel.
It asked me if I would like to link Dropbox to either Microsoft or Google (I didn't read carefully), then the file opened without much problem.

See screenshot attached. I tried connecting DB as a storage system within mobile excel on my new iphone 15pro and I get this message. How do I connect DB to excel on my phone?

Thanks for posting this here, phorst!
Can you walk me through the steps you took, before this error message appeared? Did you follow these steps perhaps on your iPhone?
Keep me in the loop.

I navigate to an excel file through the DB app on my phone. Instead of opening the file with the DB app I select to open with MS excel to access the full excel features. Before it lets me open it asks me to connect DB to excel. I select to sign in with Gmail which is how I sign into DB. That’s when I get the message.- Hannah2 years agoDropbox Staff
Hey phorst, sorry to jump in here!
Can you add Microsoft Office to your connected apps on this page and then try again, to see if that helps?
