Are you using Dropbox Vault by any chance? Did you check if you have files in there maybe?

How long ago did you delete backups etc.? If you are part of a Team at all it can take a few hours to update.
However, if you arent and you have checked that www.dropbox.com/backups etc. is empty and you have no shares (www.dropbox.com/share) then the quota is accurate. It could be that the files are not totally sync'd to a device for example.
Note: deleted files dont use quota, so, deleting wont change anything

I'm not part of a team, I never activated backups and have no shares.
I have only 3 folders on dropbox, the content is just 3 gb. But it shows at 5.85 used.
It's been like that for years but I never bothered to investigate.
I'm not short of space, I'd just like to understand why it's reported 5.85.
