Dropbox to iCloud files show zero bytes in iCloud
So before you tell me it's an iCloud issue, allow me to explain.
My Dropbox renewal was about to expire. Not wanting to pay for 2,000 gigs I didn't need, I chose to move to iCloud.
The files in Dropbox were dragged into a single folder on my Macbook desktop.
From the Macbook desktop, I dragged the folder into iCloud.
I deleted the files on Dropbox. SOME not all of the files on iCloud say zero bytes.
I'm thinking that files in Dropbox had not completely uploaded or moved to my desktop and SOMEWHERE in the process, they didn't land.
I attempted to restore deleted files in Dropbox but I couldn't find them.
1. Since it was those files that exceeded my Dropbox plan, AND I have not upgraded the dropbox account, are those files LOST forever?
2. Any other suggestions as to how to recover those files so I can transfer them to iCloud?

Sounds like before you moved you didnt turn the files to 'Available offline' OR give it time to do it.
All I can suggest is seeing if you can put them files *back* on Dropbox and downloading them.
UPDATE: FILES metadata shows up.
So, I attempted to move files from I cloud back to dropbox as one of the members suggested.
In my original post, I mentioned that I had the basic 2 gig Dropbox plan and the plan had expired.
As a result, the file transfer didn't work.
I renewed and upgraded to the next plan up and was successful in getting the files back into DropBox. After doing so, the content of the PDF and word files showed up correctly.
I then made all folders/files available off line, as another member suggested, and transferred THOSE files back to iCloud. The transfer was successful and I can see pdf files as normal.
Now I need to go back and cancel Dropbox but I'm afraid that there may still be some magic connection that I don't understand between Dropbox and the files I made available offline and transferred to iCloud. Is there? If I now go back and delete on Dropbox, will that somehow affect the files in iCloud?

Hey Larry G.17, sorry to jump in here, but I don't think that deleting your files from Dropbox would affect your files in iCloud, but, just to be sure, you can give it a go with a sample file first and see how it goes.
Let us know of any updates!
Good suggestion but, if the files show zero bytes (no data), what would downloading them back to Dropbox do?

If you try moving the 0byte files back to Dropbox and then selecting 'make available offline' hopefully they'll download for you
