Why are Dropbox files on my desktop after enabling backup on Windows 11?

On a new PC running Windows 11, after installing Dropbox and using the backup function to backup up the "documents" and "desktop" folders, the files on my desktop now show file paths to my Dropbox folder, not to my default desktop folder.  The default folder still exists, and syncs with the desktop folder in the the Dropbox folder.  I want to work with files directly from my default desktop folder.  The Dropbox backup should not become my desktop.  This isn't a problem with the "documents" folder, since I can choose whether to work on the one in the Dropbox folder or the default one.  But my "default" desktop is now in my dropbox folder.  Is there a way to fix this?

Since this happened I also have the strange problem that files I attempt to move from my desktop to other folders are copied, rather than moved.  The original remains on the desktop.  This does not happen when I move files from a folder to the desktop.

Hi benv, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Have you been in contact with the support team regarding this matter for them to investigate it in more detail on their end?

This will help me to assist further!
