How to stop Airdrop transfers ending up in Dropbox downloads by default. How to change this?

Hi

can anyone help me with something simple please?

When using airdrop transfer. How can I have the airdrop transfer arrive in icloud so I can see the transfer across all my devices? Currently, my airdrop transfers keep going into dropbox "My Mac" folders which are 2 separate files for my desktop and laptop.

How can i change this back so the airdrop transfer arrives in icloud downloads only??

Thank you, everyone.

I thought that is what you meant, but mine is different. I think I found the issue anyway and sorted it out through another way.

    Thanks for your help though!

This happened to me and was very annoying.

I reached out to Dropbox support and this fixed it:

1.Click the Dropbox icon in the menu bar (Mac).
2.Click the Sync and Backups tab.
    3.Click Mac.
    4.Click Change folders.
5.Uncheck the box next to the Downloads folder.
    6.Click Save.
    7.Restart your computer.

      Hi SteveJulien

      Yes, it was incredibly annoying.

I can't seem to find your second point (2.) of locating the sync and backups tab after clicking the Dropbox icon.

Can you elaborate further on those instructions somehow, please?

      Thank you - John

Hi johnni88, let's jump right into this!

Based on everything you described, and since you can see a "My Mac" folder inside your Dropbox folder, it sounds like you have Backup enabled for your account.

Can you try to disable it, using the steps mentioned here? That should do the trick.

Keep me posted and let me know of any updates!

      Hi Megan

Thanks, that seemed to be part of the trouble. I know its a icloud thing but I'm hoping you might be able to tell me why i can find the airdrop transfers that arrive on my imac. I cant find the file to where it is going and there a no banner notifications appearing either...The desktop is making a noise confirm it has received the request, but i cant find the files 😕

        Hey johnni88!

I’m afraid that in this case, you’ll need to get in touch with the Apple Customer Support, as we can’t provide further support on this (since this is a product created by Apple).

If you need further help with your Dropbox app after contacting them though, don't hesitate to give us a nudge.
