How do you turn off Dropbox Transfer notifications
I know Transfer is still beta, but is there a way to turn off notifications for it? I get an email and a badge on the dropbox menubar icon every time a file is downloaded.
Thanks for the screenshots, mnc50515!
Although there isn't currently a way to change the notification settings specifically for this feature, I'd be more than happy to pass your comments along to the dev team for review.
I understand that this may not be the ideal reply you were looking for, but I do hope it helps to some extent.
In the meantime, let me know if you have any other questions and I'll make sure to get back to you as soon as possible. Cheers!

Was just directed here by support. After a couple back and forth emails over two days, where they insisted I just needed to go to settings to turn off these notifications, they were like "oh, whoops, guess you can't. Maybe go post the idea and see if anyone agrees?"
Of course I see the idea was already posted 1,206 days ago, and no one has done anything about it.
How does it make sense to add a new type of notification and not take the trivial additional step of adding a checkbox for it alongside the other checkboxes to control notifications?!

How has this still not been fixed after almost FOUR YEARS of people complaining about it? I reckon I get about 50 emails a day from Dropbox Transfer - about to expire / you've created a link / someone has downloaded your file, all of which I delete without even looking at them. And your support team still clearly have no idea about it as they told me to turn off notifications in settings. I'm going to stop using this service, it's adding a whole extra layer of admin to my already busy working day and it's frankly a joke that you can't get your sh*t together enough to make this minor change after four years of complaints about it. Looking for another cloud service provider as of today.

PRETTY PLEASE SOMEONE FINALLY PAY ATTENTION UP THERE IN DROPBOX LAND! Constant interruptions with these notifications. We actually decided to get rid of our Hightail account since Transfer is so much easier to use. So, from one POV it's adding so much value to the Dripbox service, but from another POV it's just seriously faulty.
Why is there no option to simply decline being inundated with popups AND emails??? Doesn't seem like too much to ask for. Frankly, I am guessing most people would be pretty happy if you just nixed at least one – forget the option if that's too much for dev. Pick emails or notifications, but for the sake of sanity not BOTH!
THANK YOU WONDERFUL DROPBOX PEOPLE! 😊

I am also requesting that DropBox create a feature that allows us to turn on an off the option for notifications to show up as red numbers in the DropBox icon at the top of the screen. I need to see if DropBox is syncing and the red numbers obscure it. You can see the sync mini icon at the same time as the red number is showing.
In addition, create a feature to allow us to turn on and off the option to receive email notifications for every action we take in DropBox.

Hi PR8, you can request this feature by posting on the Ideas board for other users to vote on.

Like the idea of Transfer, but there's too many steps and too much noise. My ideal solution would involve right-clicking a file and selecting "Copy link to Dropbox Transfer". No wizards, no dialogs, just a link on my clipboard. I don't want any tray popups, badges, or e-mails about it being downloaded (or not downloaded/expiring). It's great that I can check its status on the website, and that's all I need.

Hi there mnc50515,
Welcome to the Dropbox Community! Let's see what we can find.
As Rich mentions, desktop app notifications can be changed from the Notifications section in your Preferences.
To ensure troubleshooting though, could you please send me a screenshot (without any personal info) of what you see on your Dropbox icon so as to have a better visual understanding of this?
Thanks in advance!

Any email notifications that can be enabled/disabled can be found on your Notifications page, while any notifications from the Dropbox application can be enabled/disabled through Dropbox Preferences.
Transfer notices do not appear to be listed as an option.
