How can I view the number of files and images in a folder?

This seems like a simple enough task but I can't figure out how to view the number of anything in a folder. For example, how many of my images have transferred from my phone to my dropbox account? What's the difference between the "photos" folder in the left hand menu (web version) vs "camera upload" folder on the app? I can see in the "camera upload" folder I have 4922 files. It doesn't distinguish between photos or videos. This number is useless to me unless I know the origin of the photos. I know I don't have 4922 photos on my phone. I have 8800 photos in my iCloud and 396 videos in my iCloud. On my phone, it says my photos are about 3G.

Maybe I'm asking too much, I used to have Box and I can see the number of items in a folder so I can see if what I'm uploading is matching. Why is this so hard?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Hi rwright, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Currently, there isn't a method to see the total number of files in a folder via the Dropbox site or app.

The Photos tab on the website, shows all images that are on your account, and not just those in the camera uploads folder.

If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.

You can in fact see the number of items on the Camera uploads folder by simply opening said folder on Quickview. From the ALL FILES menu you can hover your mouse pointer over the desired folder, and you will see an option that says "Quickview", and once clicked you will see a sidebar opening, and at the top there will be the folder name followed by the number of items on that folder.  I have been doing picture and video backups for my family so this is how I check the correct number of files have been uploaded from each device.

Thanks for the info, but I don't get a "quickview" option when hovering, I get nothing. I do have a "settings" gear wheel and when opened to folder info says nothing.  I have a Mac so maybe Windows users have the functionality you've described.

I'm sorry, I meant the file on my phone is library that shows the 9000+, and I have a camera upload folder in dropbox shows 4800+. The problem existed before I updated to ios 18.

Depending on how your phone is set up, your photos could be in different albums, and it's possible that not all of them were added to the list of your camera uploads settings in the Dropbox mobile app.
