13 TopicsAutomating File Sending from Dropbox to an Email Address
Hello, I'm new to this forum and am seeking guidance on whether the following task can be automated. Each month, I need to send the files I've uploaded to my Dropbox account to a specific email address. Is there a way to automate this process? To give you some background: I regularly upload my daily expenses in PDF format to my Dropbox account. Previously, my accountant would retrieve these files via a shared link I provided. However, he's now asked that I send the files directly to an email address, where his accounting software will automatically process them. He finds the previous method too time-consuming. Maintaining my current workflow is important to me for a couple of reasons. First, having my own organized file structure in Dropbox allows me to easily retrieve specific expenses whenever needed. Second, I frequently upload files by simply scanning them with the Dropbox app, which is incredibly convenient. Any advice or suggestions on how to automate this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!383Views0likes2CommentsAutomatically Creating the Same folders every time (each case)
The solution may be obvious to everyone else, here goes: Law Firm environment (each case set up is identical). Our intake person sets up the same 11 folders in Drop Box, in a folder under the Client Name. She is creating them individually, everytime. There has to be an automated way to accomplish this. Please adviseAutomation not working for different users on a shared folder
I have an issue where I set up an automation system in a shared folder but whenever other members of my team add files to the folder to be sorted, it doesn't work for them. The automation only works for me. How can I fix this?319Views0likes1CommentWhy does automation only convert to 128kbps MP3s?
I'm trialling automation to convert a bunch of WAV files into MP3s, however it looks like they are being converted to 128kbps MP3s (quite a low bitrate) and there doesn't seem to be an option to change it to a higher bitrate. Ideally I need them converted to 320kbps files. Does anyone have any workarounds?653Views0likes3CommentsIs it possible to create Automated Folder Templates?
Hey all, I use the dropbox desktop app much more than the web-based version, but have learned recently of the naming convention automation on the web-based version. Since my business deals in addresses, the naming convention I personally use it to add the address to each file that corresponds to that project. Here's how it works currently: - Template Folder with templates of all documents I use - When a new project begins, I copy the template folder and rename the parent folder as well as all of the documents in it according to this naming convention: "Filename [Address]". For example, "Waste Hauler Form [5313 Webster]". So far I can only get the automation to work by logging into the web-based dropbox, creating a new folder, adding the automation, and adding files. Updating the parent folder does not prompt a renaming of all the files located within it unless I go into the naming conventions and hit "save" again. This isn't a great workaround. Additionally, duplicating a folder does not carry the automation over to the new folder. Ideally, I can create one automated template folder to duplicate. Once duplicated, I can rename it and have all of the files within it renamed automatically. Best case is that I can do all of this from the desktop app. Anyone have any suggestions on how to achieve this?543Views0likes1CommentAutomation with Dropbox Sign
I would like the ability to automate movement of signed documents to different folders. Example: after someone signs a contract, that file along with any other file chosen automatically moves to a different folder (for me it would be movement from leads to active project folders).728Views0likes1CommentAutomate file name change to specific name
Is there a way to automate the name change of a file placed in a folder to a specific file name and remove the original name? For example an image is moved to a folder called "image1.jpg" and as soon as its moved into a folder its renamed to "chapter1a.jpg" I know through automations how to add thechapter1a but not to remove the original file name so it comes out aschapter1aimage1.jpg Any ideas on how to do this. - I assume its an easy fix??515Views1like1CommentCan't use automation to auto-add tags to files in a folder
The Dropbox tags help page indicates you can use the automation feature to auto-add tags to files in a folder. However, this option is not present in the automation task list. I tried adding it as instructed to a newly created folder, and also tried adding the automation rule to an already created folder. Neither worked. I hope this feature didn't get removed because it would be really helpful to organize all of my photos.Solved4.9KViews1like23Comments
