Sync
51 TopicsTrouble pairing two accounts on my computer
Hello! For three years I worked with a small company that used a Dropbox team account. For years I've had a personal one. During the pandemic when all of the work was from home and I had to use my own computer for work, I could sync within my own computer both accounts at the same time - having live sync on both folders at the same time. I left that company and now I am back and when I try to sync once again both accounts in the same computer, it appears an error message of please login with your paired account. I have been on my company team account settings, unlinked a previous account that had been linked and once I try again in vain as the message keeps repeating. Am I missing anything? Once it is linked with one account is it linked forever? Is it an app bug?1.2KViews0likes5CommentsCan I sync two personal accounts on one computer?
I have 2 separate dropbox accounts. One is my personal account and one is my Dropbox Plus account for my work (they use separate email addresses). I want to be able to have both dropboxes available at the same time on my imac. I am logged in to my personal account, when I click on the icon in the top menu bar and then on my avatar the only option I can see are to add a Team Account which I don't have (I did try it and it didn't work). There doesn't appear to be an option to log out of my personal account and log back in to the Plus account. At the moment I am having to use my web browser to access the Plus account which is not as easy to use as the desktop app. Is it possible to be logged in to both accounts at the same time or is there an easy way to add the plus account to the app and quickly switch between the accounts using the desktop app?Solved1.2KViews0likes13CommentsWill my files be deleted when I change computers due to syncing?
Currently I am using Dropbox on my PC and my files are in Dropbox folder and syncing. I can see the files on my mobile app. When I change my PC, do these files stay on the Dropbox site and when I connect a new PC, do these files stay? Or since I changed the PC, will syncing delete all the files as they are no longer available on the New PC. The folders may be same on the new PC.177Views0likes1CommentTurn OFF selective sync, do FULL sync instead?
I see that, under selective sync in settings, I can check all folders - but, if I add a folder, will it start syncing? If not, is there a way to turn OFF selective sync and instead opt for FULL synching? (I just noticed that I thought I had no files in a folder but I actually DID, because I was not synching all the subfolders, so I think I need to synch everything while I'm cleaning up files.)Solved938Views0likes9CommentsUnable to check boxes in the Selective Sync settings to choose folders to sync
Hi there, Selective Sync has something going on with it. It won't let us select additional folders in the list available. It shows all the folders we have, but you cannot select them, the little tickmark in the checkbox won't tick. We are MS Windows 10 and 11 users. We have dropbox business subscriptions for 50 employees. It happens accross the whole firm. Any advice or other people having the same problem?1.3KViews1like8CommentsPersistent Dropbox pop-up notifications about files being online-only on Win11
My Win11 Dropbox continues to hammer me with Popups that say: "Sync StatusThese files are online-only. To Open them, first move them into your Drop box folder." I traced some of these files to my \Dropbox\dropbox.cache folder. I deleted it. The Popups just kept Popping. I deleted Dropbox App on Win11 and Reinstalled it. That did not help. The Popups just kept Popping. I cloned my Dropbox folder to my OneDrive ... it continues always say it is uploading 89 files. It makes no progress uploading the 89 Files. The Dropbox Popups Just Keep Popping. Is there a fix? Thank you ....2KViews1like13CommentsHow to disable selective sync to keep all files locally ?
Hi, I'm looking for the option to disable the selective sync. I want to keep all the files locally, at all times. I don't find the option to disable selective sync. In the sync settings, I only see two options: 1) Selective sync:Hide folders you don't want to see on this Mac. Hidden folders will be available on dropbox.com 2)Dropbox folder location:This version of macOS requires Dropbox folders to be stored here:/Users/.../Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox Edit: I'm on macOS13.1 and Dropbox v165.4.43002.6KViews0likes10CommentsHow to move my Dropbox folder on another drive?
Good morning, I would like to change the hard disk storage of my dropbox folders on my pc. You have to go to preferences, synchronization and then change the hard drive then click move. When I click on move, it only affects the files I have on my pc but nothing that is online right? I have the impression that it copies everything I have on my dropbox, which is not at all what I want. I will never have enough space to receive everything. How to proceed ? Also, I wanted to try the team version for the trial month but now I would like to go back to my old subscription. Will this affect my files? I'm really afraid of losing information. Looking forward to your return. Thank you and good day1.6KViews0likes3Commentsupdate folder location
My computer died, I rebuilt it, but the disk ended up being the "D:" instead of the "E:" drive. I need a way to tell DropBox that the folder is on the D drive, but i have found NO WAY to do this. I just get error messages about the folder disappearing. no way to change the folder. I have done this before, so it used to be possible to do that. But now the option disappeared. the instructions on how to "move" the location involve bringing up a UI I can no longer find. Every time I run "dropbox" nothing comes up! I get no user interface at all. It appears to be frozen or broken. A couple of times i did get an error display several minutes after starting complaining that the dropbox folder was MISSING but absolutely no way to tell it where the new location is. I no longer have an E drive, so there is no way to put one there temporarily. When it says "can't find folder" I just need a way to tell it what the folder is on this computer. I tried scanning the installation directory for a configuration file. But none. I also tried scanning the windows registry to see if I could find the setting in there and hack around this problem. But I could not find it there.Solved1.4KViews0likes5CommentsNo option for "make online only" when I right click my files
I have a professional DropBox account and I'm working on a Mac, OS 12.5. I have several files that are sync'd locally that I would like to move off my hard drive and make online only. When I right-click on the folders, however, I'm not getting the option from the drop-down menu to make the files online only. Any suggestions? Thank you!Solved9.8KViews2likes50Comments
