You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.
Sync
73 TopicsSyncing from Synology cloud app has caused duplicates, and now syncing is stuck.
Client had a Team and Personal account for many years and they were linked, allowing sharing from Personal to Team folders. Team account was synced from Synology Cloud Sync app. After changeover in April or so of this year, we received email to update Cloud Sync app and reconfigure using Dropbox Team service. Did so. Chaos reigned as all folders from Personal and Team accounts were duplicated. Dropbox support had us delete old folders which we did. Relinked Team account from Synology and it is stuck, showing errors on a few files. Deleted these files from Synology after pausing sync, then resumed sync, but still stuck. Stopped Cloud Sync service and restarted- still no good. Deleted configuration and re set up- still no luck. We are out of options and quite frustrated! Thank you in advance.297Views0likes8CommentsLost my updates on an Excel file after 'Resource Deadlock' warning
I was working on a file on Excel, I thought I had saved but possibly not. The file was live in my window. Excel did not crash, but when I went back to Excel - it had disappeared and when I tried opening it I got a Resource Deadlock Warning. I wasn't connected to the internet at the time. I probably should have checked my old files then but it didn't occur to me. When I was next on the internet I opened the file and it was a file from over 3 weeks ago. I have since searched everywhere on version history/events and my hard disk temporary files for the old file but only the version from September has come up. I feel probably no way of recovering but thought worth checking what went wrong and if anyone else has had this problem. Not sure if it is a dropbox or excel issue or a combination of the two.219Views0likes2CommentsAdd a sync button to the Dropbox Passwords app
Hi I'm using the app on Android and very pleased so far Today I needed a password that I had added on my desktop, but it was not available in the app. There is no button to start a sync, or swipe to refresh. My suggestion is to add this functionality. Sincerely201Views0likes3CommentsDropbox took away my AmpliTube 5 presets
Dropbox ripped all the presets I had created for my guitar program AmpliTube 5. I simply clicked the icon to turn Dropbox on, thinking I would be able to control what I saved there. But Dropbox proceeded to start storing everything on the computer and wouldn’t stop until all my free space was used up. In the process it cleaned AmpliTube of everything I had gone to a lot of trouble to set up. I don’t want to have to pay for more storage space in hopes of getting it back, unless I know I’ll be able to get it back and keep Dropbox from doing that again. Hi First post - hope someone can help I've been using DataVault for many years for storing passwords and other information. It has some form of integration with Dropbox to allow it to share data between my Android phone and tablet. Up to recently it has worked perfectly - but no longer. When I add additional information to my Datavault on either my android tablet or android phone it will no longer sync nor can I backup to Dropbox. Dropbox is installed on both devices with the same login details but I keep getting the message Dropbox Exception:com.dropbox.coreNetworkIOException:handshake failed. How do I fix this? Many thanks in anticipation.Solved6.7KViews0likes33CommentsInDesign will freeze if we try to open files that are online-only
Please note that we have a Dropbox shared among multiple employees. Since yesterday, we've encountered the following issue: Whenever we try to open any files, such as InDesign or Photoshop files, through Dropbox that have a cloud status, the application freezes. To work around this, we need to right-click on the file in Dropbox, select "Save Offline," and then open it in InDesign through Dropbox. This problem did not occur before. If we don't save the file offline first in Dropbox, InDesign will freeze until we quit Dropbox, reopen it, save the file offline, and then open it again through Dropbox to work on it. For example, if we click on one of these items that has a transparent X to open files from Dropbox in InDesign, InDesign will freeze first like in img1: img1 second dropbox freeze also, for example if you right click on any dropbox file , no option to save the file offline or online .... like img2 : img2 the only solution is first to quit the dropbox then open it again when dropbox became like img3 : img3 thenmake the file you want to open through InDesign, Photoshop, or any other app available offline first. Then, you should be able to open it without any problems. Another problem we're encountering is with opening files from Dropbox in InDesign. The first time we open a file, it displays correctly with icons like in img3. However, the second time we open a file, it appears like img1, with the dark green icon missing and the cloud icon becoming a transparent X. To restore the correct display (like img3), we have to quit Dropbox and reopen it. Please address this issue as it affects multiple desktops and laptops used by six different users from various companies. Some of these users are on Windows 10, while others are on Windows 11. The problem started appearing yesterday.Solved6.8KViews3likes34CommentsI'm working with Adobe Lightroom Classic and Dropbox doesn't sync some .db files
Hi everyone. Using Lightroom Classic and Dropbox. I am getting messages from Dropbox that some preview files can sync. See attached. Also when I sync again folders with my computer thumbnails are very slow to populate again in my screen. See below. Anyone experiencing something similar? Thanks for your feedback2.1KViews0likes19CommentsAre Quickbooks files supported for use in Dropbox?
My company is looking for a platform where we can upload, store and use Quickbook files, (qbw, qbw.dsn, qbw.nd and qbw.tlg) does Dropbox support any QB file? I am using it already and I do see that I am able to upload it and it does sync and saves. My worry is if this will at any point change or if it will cause any trouble, those QB files are used on multiple computers (not at the same time) but files get accessed for more than one team member in different computers. Thank you.Solved2.2KViews0likes4CommentsDropbox issue with syncing to Synology after April 20 update
My synology NAS synchronized dropbox perfectly for years. After the April 20 update the synchronization caused mayhem on my NAS. Online all is well up to April 20 but no more synching of our work files after that. Now I found out yesterday that a warning email was sent that i never noticed, but how to solve it now? The dropbox has 4 team members and 5 top level folders, one of those folders was synched to the NAS for one team member. Now synching occurs to the private folder of that team member, synching hundreds of gigabytes for no reason since we have all that nfo already in the toplevel folder. We have had a business account for years, but now it is advanced(?!?) but more costly than the business? Apparently you need a business account to be able to sync. So I upgraded to business, but now dropbox tells me that will be implemented March 2025😳. Any suggestions, on how to get my system back up and running the way it was?Solved8.1KViews2likes6CommentsOpen Unsynced Files with Default Apps
Synced files populate a dropdown menu with your default app for opening files (i.e. acrobat for pdf files). This should be maintained with "unsynced" files as well. This is a critical and simple programming effort. One click would sync the file and also open the file. This would be a MAJOR BOOST in how the desktop application works.1.3KViews0likes5Comments
