Shared Links
36 TopicsShared link bandwidth monitor for Dropbox users to prevent breaking bandwidth limits
A tool designed to monitor real-time bandwidth usage for Dropbox users, aimed at preventing the maximum limit of 1TB from being reached. This solution sends customizable alerts when bandwidth consumption reaches critical thresholds (e.g., 75%, 90%) and provides detailed daily or weekly reports. This way, users can proactively manage their service usage, ensuring continuous access without interruptions due to exceeding the bandwidth limit.110Views0likes2CommentsDefault Share Option should be "View" not "Edit"
Hello, I am a Dropbox business admin that shares a lot of links with people outside of my organization. I'm not sure when it happened but as some point the default for sharing switched from "View" to "Edit". When you click the "Copy Link" button, it creates an edit link, not a view link. When you click the three dots, then go "Share with Dropbox", and the pop up window appears, the default is "can edit". Furthermore, in the dropbox app (Finder on Mac), the "Copy Dropbox Link" option creates an edit link. I'm sure I'm not the only one who does not want random people being able to upload to my dropbox. To be sure, I do not want to get rid of "Edit", but making it the default seems an odd choice. This means that even the most diligent of user (myself) accidentally sends Edit links. People who are not diligent send them exclusively. Thank you!16KViews30likes27CommentsUser restrictions on bulk deletion or moving
It would be great if it were possible to set a user so they cannot perform bulk deletions or moves of files. One of the users, who does not have admin rights, accidentally moved a folder with 350,000 files. As a result, we lost the functionality of the links when returning the folder back. It would therefore be great if some users could be restricted so that it is not possible to move or delete files beyond a certain quota.228Views1like3CommentsShare a a file directly from Dropbox using Replay features
If you have the Replay add on, I think you should have the ability to send "share via Replay" links from a file in dropbox. When using this option the file would be available in Replay automatically and sync with that file in dropbox for comments/changes. Versions could be uploaded into the same folder with a naming scheme. Bottom line, everything should be do-able within the dropbox app - everything from setting up folders, workspaces, versions, etc... leaving replay for the viewer experience, comments, and other forms of communication about the file. All file upload/download/versions/links should be integrated into Dropbox, so that file management can be done from the Dropbox side1.2KViews1like4CommentsCan we have an option to have raw=1 as default for shared links?
When I make a web link to Dropbox content I get dl=0 as default. Please create an option to let me set my account to default to creating web links with raw=1. Extensive testing across various platforms and browsers shows me that raw=1 is much more convenient for most recipients. After all, a web link is explicitly most useful for sharing with people who might not already be using Dropbox.471Views0likes3CommentsMake the folders in shared links appear in grid view by default.
It would be more viewer-friendly if the folders and their files were displayed more like actual folders and files, i.e. the Grid View. The same information is displayed but the list view is like File Manager and looks more technical which is OK if the only people who are going to access it are fellow workers, but I'm sending clients and customers to my folder and I would like the option to have it look better. I would even consider moving from Free to Basic to improve my customer's experience.444Views0likes6CommentsOption to select and delete multiple shared links
There was a request for this feature back in 2018 but looks like nothing was done. I want the option in the "Shared", "File requests", and "Deleted files" menus to select multiple files at once, or "Select All" and delete them in one click. Right now, we have to manually go to each link/file individually and click the 3 dots to the right and delete the link. This is super inefficient and cumbersome and there needs to be an option to select all or choose multiple links/files at once and process them together. Perhaps including updating the settings across shared links as well as a checkbox/multiselection feature so if preferences change across multiple links, they can be edited and updated via a checkbox feature.1KViews1like3CommentsEmbbedable Pinterest like grid view for shared link viewing
When brainstorming ideas and collecting references for a project, I find myself downloading images from the web, making screen shots from various social media platforms, taking pictures in books and storing all those files in a dropbox folder that I share with my team. Pinterest is a great tool but you can't have private and shared collections and you can't reference the pins you saved to use them in indesign or word. Dropbox could be the best tool to share moodboard collections that are both visible online and usable as files for other apps. It would be great to have a view only link of a beautiful grid that I can share in slack or paste in notion. If I collaborate with others, people could add their ideas to the folder and this would be reflected in all shared docs that have the view embedded. Wouldn't that be cool ?1.2KViews2likes5Comments
