Hide the members of a shared folder
Hi, My company uses Dropbox (free and company versions) to share files with external people of the company. We would like to know if it's possible to hide the name and the email address of the members of the folder to the other members. And if it's not possible yet, I think it would be a good idea to improve Dropbox, don't you think?52KViews47likes75Comments
Make file prefixing an option - file requests
When someone requests a file using your request a file tool, the person who uploads the file's name gets added to the file name eg janedoe_filea.pdf . This is really frustrating and I end up having to rename my files. I did a search to solve the problem and I see there are other people that are quite frustrated by the problem but apparently there is no fix for this? See what folders a user belongs to
As an admin, I want to be able to easily see what folders a specific user belongs to. I'd love to be a be able to go to the "Members" page, click on a user, and then see a list of all the folders they have access to. If I need to partially reduce a specific users folder access, I would currently have to click "Share" next to each folder and look through who the members were. And even then, if they belong to a folder I don't, I won't know they are on it. I'd also like to be able to change their permission and uninvite them to those folders from that same view. So, once I've opened the "Members" page, clicked on the user, and am looking at the folders they belong to, I'd want to be able to make edits from there.42KViews64likes75Comments
Ability to see all shared folders
I have a folder I would like to share but it gives me an error saying I can't share because there is a shared folder below. How do I find this folder to move it? There are hundreds of folders and no hint anywhere as to where it might be. I guess I could start trying to share sub branches but this is going to take forever especially if there are multiple ones. Can we have an option to lock files we're working on to avoid conflicted copies?
My business partner and I (often working from different locations) are constantly working on the same documents and trying to save our work at the same time. Result: lots of conflicted copies of files. I would love to have something in the Dropbox UI that allows us to see if another person is working on the file or has the file open. It would save us a lot of FLAME texting. We love each other but this is one thing that makes us want to kill each other.23KViews20likes54Comments
Designate multiple "owners" or "admins" of a shared folder
We would like the ability to designate multiple users as "admins" of a shared folder so more than one person is able to unshare and delete the folder when necessary. This could work by having multiple "owners" and/or having a Dropbox group designated as the owner. Why we need this: We use Dropbox for project work that is highly sensitive. Only team members working on the project have access to the shared folder on a "need to know" basis. Would it be possible to comment on Folders as well as Files from the web interface? Example- I prepare 100 files for my colleague, put them in a Folder on dropbox, then @mention her with a comment like "Here are the files we discussed." Or is there another way to do it?18KViews8likes13Comments
