Hi all.. I have a 13.5 gig storage on my account but I am suddenly unable to upload even to 2 gig.. I have an important work file that I can't even access.. I was a very very early dropbox adopter and earned all that storage by getting all my friends to downland and use.. maybe 20 years ago now..? took a while but I've always love dropbox and use it often and still regularly get others to upload it and use it for work.. though they long ago stopped giving me extra storage for that.. I suppose once you are successful you don't need to look after your loyal supporters anymore.. Today a colleague sent me a folder and I am just lead to a page that tells me I have not enough space.. I have 1.87 gig used..While in the same screen it tells me that my account is 13.5 gig.. So I went to look for help only to find that as I don't pay them cash I cannot even email them.. phone numbers address everything is greyed out.. nasty.. and the chat bot doesn't work.. they never work but this one opens in a window half off the screen.. so my only option is to make a community post... very disappointing.. might be the end of a long relationship.. ;9( thanks paulSolved8.9KViews1like14CommentsSerious problem with Hard Drive space
Hi I have a major problem with disk space, and I just can't seem to find an answer to the problem. I have a little macbook with minimal HD space, hence why dropbox is very handy for me. I am using shared dropbox within a company. That is, we are all connected to the same account but only sync our one personal folder. With 16GB of space available, I download and install dropbox, then proceed to sync the one and only folder I wish to sync, which is 2.5GB large. Having done this, I now have 13.5GB available. Which is spot on. However, over the course of a few days I suddenly begin to get messages warning me that my HD space is running low, until eventually the messages turn to "your hard drive is full". If I uninstall dropbox, I get my 16GB back. I start again, and it just keeps happening. If I leave it and get on with something else, I find that my HD space begins to gradually and erratically creep back up again. I have tried and checked and tried and checked, and I am only syncing the folder I require. So why does dropbox keep stealing my available space? Note: this situation doesn't happen if dropbox is not installed. This is incredibly unproductive as I seem to be spending most of my time at work configuring dropbox. Not only that, but when my computer HD goes down to 0bytes of space, I can't get anything done at all.Solved8.3KViews1like14CommentsUploading to someone else's dropbox
Hi, I really need some help with drop box! The client I work for has created a dropbox account with a large 2TB TerraBite (not 2GB) limit. This is to back up and store all the work I do for them so they are in charge of all the files and working files they have paid me for, it also takes the responsibility and cost away from me which is really vital, otherwise all the responsibility and cost of storing data is down to me. I have a drop box account with a 2GB limit. When they shared their drop box share folder with me and I upload to their share folder drop box uses my 2GB limit and says I am out of data, even though I am using their folder that they should have the 2TB amount of space on. I cannot back up the files to their 2TB worth of space and drop box is asking me to pay for more storage space. I really don't know what to do and would really appreciate help on this. thank you! I have deleted half of my files and still the amount of storage doesn't change. it says I have used the same amount if I delete any number of files. This is not a shared folders issue. How do I get it to reset the storage spaced used so that it is accurate?Solved6KViews2likes7CommentsCannot get file larger than 2gb. I'm a Dropbox Pro user!
I'm using Dropbox Pro ([account information removed]), and I really need to get large file (several few gbs files) as soon as possible. (Please refer: [file request link removed]) Since I'm a Dropbox Pro user, I thought I'm expected to be able to receive files larger than 2gb (up to 10 gb) as your document suggests:https://www.dropbox.com/en/help/9090. However, when my clients tried to upload their files, it keeps saying that the limitation for file request is 2gb. I'm ahead of very important business deadline, so I really need you guys to figure out how to get my files. This is not what I paid for!Solved5.8KViews0likes9CommentsI'm an assistant trying to upload videos
Hi, I'm an assistant trying to upload videos on my computer to the Dropbox account of the person I work for. He has a Dropbox account with 2 TB, I have a free account with 2 GB. At first, he gave me his login info, and I could not get in. It said I had an invalid email or login. I know this is the correct info because I use it on his computer and it works. Next, he tried contacting Live Support. They told him to share the folder with me that I'm supposed to drop the videos into. But when I log into my account, and click on the folder, it only lets me upload 2TBs of files total and then has told me I'm out of space. I don't get this. The folder was created in his account with 2TB which he is nowhere near using even 1/4 of that storage. How we can work this out? Any suggestions? He wants to use Dropbox, but I'm all for finding another platform if something this simple can't be done. Thank you, JillSolved5.4KViews0likes2CommentsCan't add shared folder even with sufficient space
I was invited to a shared folder that I'm trying to view and edit. When I try to open this folder or add it to my Dropbox, I am sent to the "out of space" page and prompted to upgrade. I am not out of storage space—I have 24.88gb of free storage, and I am only using 10.66gb of storage. The shared folder is not 14gb large. Any suggestions on how to fix?Solved3KViews0likes12CommentsRecipient of my shared folder is getting a "storage full" error
Hello all, I suspect I know the answer to this after reading through some related posts, but there was none with this specific setup, so before I devise a complicated workaround I wanted to check in with y'all. I'm starting a new podcast project, and I created a folder for audio files. I have 2TB of storage and only use about half of it at this point. I shared my folder with my cohost, since he is going to be editing the show. We are in different parts of the country so are using my Dropbox to me to send him my audio. He puts our two sides of the conversation together, and then posts the finished podcast. After only three episodes, he is getting a "storage full" error, even though the folder is not originally his. Question: Am I correct in saying that because I've shared the folder with him and given him read and write access, that the folder counts towards his storage cap? And will it NOT count against him if he only has read access? Question followup: If that is the case, the simplest workaround I can think of is to create a second unshared folder that only lives on my computer, and I just drag finished episodes into there, which should move them out of our shared folder and free up the space for him. OR, I make the main folder read-only for him, but set up a file request folder that he can upload files to, but that seems pretty cumbersome. Thoughts? Last August I went to shoot an event in Manhattan Beach CA and was sent an invite to join another accounts DropBox account to make it easy for me to share content I captured during the event and get it up to them since they hosted the account. The account belongs to the AVP [Association of Volleyball Professionals]. Going into the event, I had a basic FREE 2GB account and accepted their invite [which was sent via email] and since then my account has been FULL and DURING the event last year, I was not able to upload more than the 2GB I was registered for despite uploading to a different account. How do I address this? The event is next month and I would like to NOT have to upload to a different medium simply because DB isn't working properly. Today July 25 I was sent a link to a folder owned by a wedding photographer in an effort to upload RAW images I have on my HD to HIS DropBox account but again, the transfer stops because of the 2GB limit [MY] account has. Can anyone help?Solved2.4KViews0likes6CommentsNew to Dropbox--Accessing Shared Files
I'm new to Dropbox and don't have any files in my account. However, I'm trying to access a shared file and dropbox won't let me gain access to it until I buy more space. Any suggestions why I have to buy space when all I doing is looking at a shared file? Thanks!Solved2.2KViews0likes2Comments
