New folder creation - Option to change default behavior of "Send an email notification" checkbox
This idea would solve a lot of issues and address many complaints. Creating the option to change a default behavior when creating a new folder within a parent folder. Currently you cannot modify the checkbox below from being checked by default when creating a new folder. If you do not un-check the box, an email notification is sent to every member of the parent folder. Please see a screenshot of the dialogue box and checkbox in question:
Ask for user confirmation of deletion when the Dropbox folder can't be found at boot
Hello, I just had the desktop app unwantedly delete over 12,000 files (30GB). I was able to undelete them all, but had to wait for them all to download from the cloud again. What happened was as follows: Starting configuration: SSD 1 is my system drive and contains my Dropbox application. SSD 2 contains my Dropbox folder. SSD 3 is brand new and empty. (1) I migrated Windows from SSD 1 to SSD 3. (2) I booted from SSD 3. Everything seemed good. Dropbox started automatically, running from SSD 3. (3) I moved my Dropbox folder from SSD 2 to SSD 3, did other stuff, then hibernated the computer. (4) The next day I accidentally booted from SSD 1, which wasn't wiped or changed during the migration. The old installation of the Dropbox app started automatically, found that its local files on SSD 2 were all gone**, and immediately synced this information to the cloud. I figured out what was happening and stopped it after about 1 minute. (5) I booted back up from SSD 3. That copy of the Dropbox application contacted the cloud and then started deleting all my local files as fast as it could. ** At this point in the process, the application should tell the user that all the local files inexplicably disappeared while the computer was off, and ask for confirmation that it was intentional.
