I have been using dropbox to store and access microsoft documents on my mac for months but out of nowhere this morning when I clicked to open a document I was told 'Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges'. I created the document so I don't see why there would be an issue. Does anyone have advice on how to fix this? Thank youSolved109KViews0likes24CommentsCannot Change Excel online date format

Hello, I am using Dropbox (v206.5) on my iPad (up to date with IOS 14.01) and for most word documents I am able to open them from Dropbox app and edit them in word with no problem. Periodically, when I open them, the document will open in word, but I am unable to make changes to the document (can't even type or change text). I have checked to make sure that the documents are not "read only" and I when I try to open the documents on another device (my iMac), I am able to open and modify the documents with no problem. I have also check to make sure that the documents are not open on any other device. I have also tried to uninstall and re-install both the Microsoft word app and the Dropbox app on my iPad. Any other ideas on what may be going on? thanks in advance.19KViews0likes27CommentsWhy do I need a license to edit Word and Excel files now?
So this just happened today. I can't create new Word or Excel files, nor can I edit existing ones. There is now a paywall that says I need a commercial Office 365 version. Um what? Working for an org that has a number of remote colleagues, we rely on being able to share and collaborate on our in-progress work. Having to pay for an essential embedded program on top of a subscription, without any warning, is not cool.18KViews3likes93Commentscan't save files from Office365-app to Dropbox - supposedly write protected
Hello there! Starting yesterday all of a sudden I can't save files to my Dropbox via the Office 365-app anymore. I get a message telling me that the file is write protected, which it isn't. It tells me to save a copy, when trying to do that I get the same error message. Up until the day before yesterday everything worked like a charm. I haven't knowingly changed anything about my smartphone's configuration, no new apps etc. Had anyone ever experienced this issue? Any ideas on how to solve it? Thank you! I just purchased a new computer with Windows 10 Pro. For some reason when opening any Microsoft Office product from the dropbox folder, the file explorer locks up and doesn't respond. From my documents folder or desktop, the files open with no issue. It is only from the dropbox folder. Tried all solutions that a google search gives me butso far nothing has worked. I have attempted more solutions than I can count. Looking for help.Solved14KViews0likes5Comments"Error 403: disallowed_useragent" when trying to sign in to Dropbox to access Excel file
Please help. I'm using a Pixel 6 with Android version 12 updated 7/5/22. I was trying to open an excel file on Dropbox with Excel. It then brought me to this page saying "Sign in to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office Integration" in the Excel app. I chose "Sign in with Google" since that's how my Dropbox was setup. After entering my email and password, it told me "You do not have any security keys registered for this account.", so I chose "Try another way". Then I chose "Tap Yes on your phone or tablet", which then caused Google to send me a notification asking "Are you trying to sign in?" I chose "Yes, that's me.", then the Authorization Error page showed up, with the following message: Authorization Error Error 403: disallowed_useragent You can’t sign in from this screen because this app doesn’t comply with Google’s secure browsers policy. I work with one other person. We were both working on our laptops on the same file in our shared Dropbox folder. (I was adding to a working list and she was editing above.) But I kept getting an odd request for permission and the file name changed to a long sequence of numbers and letters and was saved in another folder called "old files." So the attempt to work on the same file at the same time failed. How can we make this work?Solved12KViews0likes7CommentsLinked excel sheets not updating
I have a question that has been puzzling my team as we use Excel as our main system in our business, with many separate files that have cells linked together. We have a shared file on dropbox that allows us to all access and update these excel files. Our issue is that if my teammates or I update one excel file, the other files that are linked to it will not update accordingly unless our administrator goes in and manually opens each file. Only when this happens, the updates flow through to the files according to the updates my teammates and I have made. This causes some issues because at times we are not able to continue our work until the administrator opens the files to allow the updates to flow through into them. This also creates issues because only the administrator is able to create links between separate excel files. We are looking for a solution that could enable all team members to preform these tasks, without having to bother the administrator to open the files so the liked cells information can flow through. One side point I would like to mention is that the administrator typically will use excel on the desktop, while many team members are using "excel for the web". On the top of my excel for the web page, it has a yellow message that reads, "Links Disabled, Links to external workbooks are not supported and have been disabled". - I have a feeling this has something to do with it. Our team members currently have a mix of Apple and Windows computers.Solved9.4KViews0likes4CommentsCan't login to Google from Dropbox (desktop)
When I try to open a Word file housed on Dropbox using Google Docs, using the Open drop down menu at the upper right, I am directed to the Sign In To Continue screen for Google, but when I hit the Sign In button, the screen blips and kicks me back to the same screen. It won't allow sign in. The Dropbox and Google accounts are linked in Dropbox. I am using the same email for both the Dropbox and Google accounts. This sign in issue happens both when I am logged into Google Docs when I try to open the document and when I am not signed in to Google. The document can be viewed successfully in Dropbox, but if I change the default editing apps setting for Word to Google Docs, the document cannot be viewed and I am redirected to the Sign In page. I am using a Windows machine, Firefox (71.0) as a browser. I've tried changing various cookie settings in Firefox, but that doesn't seem to help. Suggestions?Solved9.3KViews1like7Comments
