I have a professional DropBox account and I'm working on a Mac, OS 12.5. I have several files that are sync'd locally that I would like to move off my hard drive and make online only. When I right-click on the folders, however, I'm not getting the option from the drop-down menu to make the files online only. Any suggestions? Thank you!Solved9.8KViews2likes50CommentsHow do I end "Background items Added" Notification and/or Process?
I uninstalled Dropbox but keep getting this annoying notification on my mac that Dropbox is adding items that can run in the background even though the app is deleted and it is disabled in the appropriate setting. How do I get this to end once and for all? Thanks!Solved9.6KViews0likes19CommentsDropbox folder bounces in the dock on mac
Dear Friends, I hope someone can help me. I am using mac. Since the last update (when Dropbox folder was moved to a new location) I observe the following behavior. Since the last update (when the Dropbox folder was moved to a new location), I have observed the following behavior. When I edit files with TexShop, the Dropbox folder in the dock starts bouncing, similarly to what happens with the downloads folder. I presume that some auxiliary files during the compilation of LaTeX get purged, so Dropbox (or Mac) is trying to bring my attention to that. Disabling folder animation as well as turning off bouncing of all folders from the Terminal with: defaults write com.apple.dock no-bouncing -bool TRUE did not help. Is there a way to stop the bouncing? Thanks a lot.5.5KViews1like6CommentsNo option to open Dropbox link in Finder?
I seem to be missing the setting that allows me to open Dropbox folders in finder instead of in a browser. Can someone please tell me how to open a Dropbox link in Finder? My Mac is: macOS Monterey; Version 12.5. Two images are attached. As you can see in the second screen shot, I do not have the option I am seeing available to others online.Solved4.6KViews0likes16Comments"DROPBOX_ROOT_DUMMY_FILENAME…_TO_USERS" failing to sync
I'm using Dropbox v180.4.4912 onmacOS 13.5 on an Apple Silicon Mac mini. If it helps, I'm also using Maestral 1.8.0 (both GUI and daemon) on a different Mac. I have a persistent sync issue in my personal Dropbox: When I click on "Go to folder", Finder becomes the active app, but the currently-open window doesn't change to any different folder, no matter what folder I have open. I poked around in Console.app, but didn't see anything useful. I used to get a red circled "1" in my menu-bar icon when I first started getting this error, but now it's a red circled "2". I'm not sure what the second extra thing that Dropbox is encountering that's causing it to bump the badged number from 1 to 2. Suggestions? Quitting and restarting Dropbox doesn't fix it, even temporarily, and I've rebooted my computer for OS updates once or twice since I started getting this error. Thanks in advance.3.9KViews0likes23CommentsHigh memory usage on Mac M1
Hi, I've just installed my first M1 iMAC and entered the Dropbox beta program. I need to add that I run an Intel base MB Pro in parallel and I've entered the beta program there as well. So far everything went fine, Dropbox runs Apple nativ and functionality is as expected (well known from the past). Checking memory usage on the M1 Mac made me wondering. 7,4GByte!! After rebooting the machine it came down to 750Mbyte but nearly a day later its up again to 1,5Gbyte and is constantly increasing. On the Intel MB Pro, everything fine and smooth. Memory consumption around 700Mbyte & constant. Does anyone experience similar memory issues on M1 MAC's?Solved3.9KViews1like21CommentsTransfer Dropbox Backup to New Mac
I recently bought a new Mac and used the Apple Migration Assistant to transfer all of my data from my old machine to my new one. This included the Dropbox folder and everything else. The migration went smoothly (in the past I have had issues migrating the Dropbox folder) and now I have all of my files on my new machine exactly as they appeared before. I used Dropbox Backup on my old machine, and so the Music, Movies and Pictures folders are stored inside the hidden folder titled "Mac" in the main Dropbox folder, and their original location is replaced with an alias. I now would like to set up Dropbox Backup on my new machine to backup these folders exactly like it did on my old one. However, when I go into Dropbox preferences, it asks if I would like to backup my Mac and shows all of the unticked options for folders to backup. I was wondering what the best way to setup Dropbox Backup on my new computer would be? Do I have to delete the backup, move the folders back into their original location and create a new backup? Or is there a way of telling Dropbox that this machine should inherit the backup of my old machine? I am still currently in possession of my old machine so I can access things from there if necessary. I thought it would be best to wait and hear the correct way of doing this, since I have tried in the past to fix things very quickly myself making the situation worse, as I have seen other people with similar stories do.3.4KViews0likes25CommentsNotifications for updates on folders do not appear on my MacBook
Hi, I know that a lot of people are annoyed by constant barrage of notification banners, but i face the reverse problem. I don't see dropbox notifications on my mac (its been so for a couple of years now, but i need this fixed now). I work on a lot of collaborative projects, so tese alerts are one way to nudge me to the folders that need my attention. Notifications banners on my mac for my mail, calendar work just fine. i have checked notification preferences on the dropbox badge in the menu bar, on website, i have allowed for notifications from Dropbox when i am in do not disturb mode etc. My work around has been to manually go to the dropbox icon on the menu bar and check for activity on shared folders. Hi I was using Dropbox Beta with the new cloud storage location in Ventura. I had both personal and business account on the desktop app. Things were working mostly ok, but I was having some issues with syncing, so I thought I should try leaving the beta. that's when all the problems started. After I left the beta, I could no longer add a second account to the desktop app. I tried adding the Personal account then adding the Business acount. I tried adding the Business account, then adding the Personal account. When I add the second account, Dropbox crashes and it doesn't login. So I went back to the beta to see if that made a difference and it hasn't. So now I'm stuck with only my Business account in the beta Is there anyway to fully reset Dropbox on the computer to fix this? thanks PaulSolved3.1KViews0likes27Comments
