Help I'm losing my mind I now have 7 pop-ups asking me to install the latest update to Dropbox last month this happened I went to Dropbox/ download reinstalled the entire thing after I uninstalled it and while that solved the issue temporarily it's back again after a new update was released what it looks like is almost a virus but it's not I'll show you the installer screens and they appear to be issued by Dropbox I don't think you can fake that but I'm not 100% sure I have scanned for viruses just as an FYI but since there's no way to reach out to actual Dropbox and tell them that we're experiencing this bug on Windows PC specifically windows 11 its is requesting UAC I say yes ad it will popup again625Views2likes3CommentsDropbox Migration to a New Mac With the New Cloud Storage Setup
On my primary computer, I keep all Dropbox files in offline mode. I've updated to the new Dropbox setup that places the Dropbox folder in ~/Library/CloudStorage. I'm wondering what will happen when I move to a new Mac in the future. In the past, the macOS transfer program would transfer all my files to the new computer's drive, and then Dropbox would reindex them (rather than having to redownload all the files from Dropbox). What will happen now with the new Dropbox setup? Thanks.Solved6.4KViews1like26CommentsHow can I choose an existing Dropbox folder on my new installation?
I'm a new user and I've installed dropbox now, so I want to specify an existing folder, but I can't choose, always dropbox creates a new folder, in any folder I choose. Is it possible to change so that I can choose my existing folder?129Views1like2CommentsUnlink Dropbox on laptop and relink to another account (OSX)
I am logged into a dropbox account on my laptop (desktop app) and should leave this account to connect to an other account. When I sign out of the first account under preferences in the desktop app, the app closes. When opening the app again, I'm automatically logged into the same account again. How can I connect to the second account? Even de-installing and re-installing the desktop app did not fix this. Any idea why this happens and how to solve it? Thanks for all your input, TomSolved201Views0likes6CommentsmacOS Open dialog locks up app after installing Dropbox client
After installing Dropbox client on macOS, anytime any app attempts to open the macOS Open File dialog, the app locks up. This is any application with the macOS open dialog. As soon as I trash Dropbox from Applications, everything works again. I believe this has to do with migrating this user account from another Mac, as other user accounts on this computer do not have this issue. I've trashed the .dropbox folder in my home dir and Dropbox dir at ~/Library/Application Support, still have the same issue after re-installing. macOS 15.1127Views0likes3CommentsThe Dropbox desktop app is stuck on starting on Mac OS
I can't get past the "starting..." stage on the DB app. I've uninstalled, cleared everything related to DB from my computer, downloaded fresh, installed again. Everything I can think of. Always, the menu bar icon stays gray and the pulldown shows "Starting..." I've let it sit for days, no luck. I can get to my account via dropbox.com as usual. It's the app that's not working. I've unlinked the account and relinked it. I must be missing something. FWIW, this happens on both my Macbook Pros, a new M3 and an M1. And I've read old messages about this problem... so, a new query. Ideas please?1.1KViews0likes22CommentsUbuntu 24.04 often shows deprecated warnings on the command line
I have used Dropbox for a good 6 years now on various Ubuntu Linux boxes, but I'm now having hiccups with Dropbox on Ubuntu 24.04.1 compared to a 20.04.6 setup on a different pc. The 20.04 pc shows the following: klojum@pc1:~$ dropbox status Up to date klojum@pc1:~$ dropbox version Dropbox daemon version: 211.4.6008 Dropbox command-line interface version: 2020.03.04 The 24.04 pc shows the following: klojum@pc2:~$ dropbox status /usr/bin/dropbox:613: DeprecationWarning: isSet() is deprecated, use is_set() instead if self.stop_event.isSet(): break Up to date klojum@pc2:~$ dropbox version Dropbox daemon version: 211.4.6008 Dropbox command-line interface version: 2019.02.14 So... Why is the freshly set up Ubuntu 24.04 pc using an older command-line interface version? I installed Dropbox identically from the installer file off the Dropbox website. Is this older version also responsible for the various Deprecation Warnings I'm getting on my screen? And BTW, 2019..?! Really? That's almost 6 years ago. I'm also getting "conflicted versions" of files again, which I haven't had for years. Where can I find the 'latest' version of Dropbox for Ubuntu Linux 24.04? Any insight on this is certainly welcome.152Views0likes3CommentsTwo Dropbox folders after migration from old Mac to new
A couple of days after I did my migration I noticed on the new Mac there are two dropbox folders, the one that should be syncing with my other devices is called “DropBox personal” however, after the install a second folder of Dropbox contents was created in my user folder and that's the one connected to the cloud. How do I override this copy being selected for synchronization? It's conceivable that another action might've contributed to this problem in so far as I was reminded by a dropbox prompt that I'm only entitled to share DropBox services with three devices. I'd revisit that page if I knew where it was on my DropBox account webpage. In summary, there are two questions, 1) how do I correct the wrong dropbox folder being selected for synchronization? (I’ll eventually purge the dupe) 2) what account page would I go to to review the particulars of the three devices for synchronization? (as best I recall Legacy devices were in the list that are no longer being used) Thanks in advance for any help. Paul1.5KViews1like41CommentsInstallation error on Ubuntu 24.10 (oracular)
