Folders
174 TopicsMy web account keeps freezing whenever I'm idle for more than 20 minutes.
I don't know what exactly has been changed, but being idle in a Dropbox folder on Web while working on a project (20-30 mins) causes issues with creating a new folder, or trying to move/copy/rename etc. It just freezes, and a refresh of the page keeps the page in a "loading" state. You have to fully close the tab and load Dropbox afresh for it to work again. Very, very, very annoying and it ruins the entire workflow. Having to navigate through all folders again to get back to where I was. Also please allow this "suggestion" for where you want to move/copy something to be toggled on/off, because it hasn't provided me the correct location once and it always loads in late causing a missclick...25Views0likes3CommentsDropbox Migration to a New Mac With the New Cloud Storage Setup
On my primary computer, I keep all Dropbox files in offline mode. I've updated to the new Dropbox setup that places the Dropbox folder in ~/Library/CloudStorage. I'm wondering what will happen when I move to a new Mac in the future. In the past, the macOS transfer program would transfer all my files to the new computer's drive, and then Dropbox would reindex them (rather than having to redownload all the files from Dropbox). What will happen now with the new Dropbox setup? Thanks.Solved6.4KViews1like26CommentsI see duplicate Dropbox folders on Windows, after reinstalling the desktop app, and they both sync
Hi there I had a problem where I noticed one day about a month or so ago that my backup of my current computer had disappeared so couldnt access any files from my computer on my phone. The only way I could see to fix it was to reinstall dropbox on my computer which it fix the backup problem. However I now have a problem on my computer where my windows explorer shows two indentical dropbox folders. How do I remove of them without losing any files? Anything I do to one of the folders affects the other, they both have the same files and both sync. Thanks in advance.Solved6.7KViews1like29CommentsThe Dropbox folder is gone from my Mac Finder (running Sonoma 14.6.1).
I have been dealing with this for awhile now, I upgraded to Mac OS Sonoma 14.6.1 and I can longer see my Dropbox in my finder, looks like Apple has blocked DB from iCloud and finder function? If you have any ideas I am open to input. coupdevill737Views0likes3CommentsHow can I restore files using the Dropbox cache folder?
i have a dropbox cache which i can see because i have hidden files viewable on my computer running win11. i need to recover these files locally because my original dropbox account is no longer active after not being able to manage it due to extended hospitalization. dropbox support stated i had enough time to respond to queries about them permanently deleting my locked account which in itself is an abuse against the disabled community. but i would like a way to recover these files locally so i can start a new db account and upload them to sync. thanks159Views0likes3CommentsLogged out of Dropbox, Now Dropbox Can't See Existing Folder on Windows 11
Hello. I'm on Windows 11, and Friday -- the last time I used my PC -- all was fine with Dropbox. Today, when I turned on the PC, Dropbox was logged out, and when I logged in, it could no longer access my existing Dropbox folder, which is on an external drive. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the desktop app, and tried to select the proper, existing Dropbox folder for years, and I first got an error that the drive couldn't be accessed. Uninstalled and reinstalled again, immediately paused syncing. Now, when I try to move the Dropbox folder in the app to the existing folder on the external drive, I get an error that files are already there. So what the heck do I do? Please help. Thank you.Solved2.1KViews1like15Commentsinstalling and cloning new SSD drive
Hi I currently have a old 1TB SSD Drive with the dropbox folder on it. I'd like to install a new 4 TB drive in my laptop and clone the old drive onto the new larger capacity SSD drive without having to resync and download all of the files again back into the cloned dropbox folder. This seems like it should be a very normal thing but I can't seem to find enough information on this to make me a bit more comfortable. If I clone the drive completely, then swap them so the drive letter is restored, can I make that work? I found this on another post: "This doesn't work. When you boot up your new drive and start dropbox on it won't recognized the existing "dropbox" folder. It will force you to create a new dropbox folder and proceed to download the entire dropbox content from the cloud. pretty annoying" Thanks in advance,Solved1.7KViews0likes9CommentsThe desktop app on Sonoma didn't create a Dropbox folder, why?
Okay, new Mac, Sonoma, installed dropbox app, it didn't create a Dropbox folder and sync the files to my local storage. If I open it in the app, then right click on the file, there is no sync only download, and it compresses it. So, no longer can I back upmy locals to dropbox? Also, it won't let me select multiple files, I have to do it one at a time? John132Views0likes1Comment
