Differences & benefits of syncing the Desktop folder vs backing it up?
I just saw and turned on the backup option... I've had the primary my pc/desktop folders UNSYNCED because it seemed redundant from all my primary files/folders I keep within dropbox already but.. The backup I noticed has a rewind feature which may be enough of a benefit, if im understanding it correctly to keep this enabled...ie if i screw something up on the fly while working...i can go in there and rewind whatever file/folder to recover the mistake? That said, is there a separate reason to keep the pc/desktop folder syncing as well? This week, suddenly out of nowhere, files I upload every week are choosing not to appear on the other party's end. He still sees last week's file even though I had already deleted it. Tried deleting the new file and uploading again, same file with a new name, and he didn't see that either. Still has old files. I asked him to delete everything, he said he did but they're still here on this end. And now after I delete them again again, Dropbox won't let me permanently delete. I've tried rebooting and maintenance, tried sending to another third party email, and that 3p email sees what I send just fine. Could it be on his end? Also tried to explore the "Rewind" option but the site won't go to it. If I delete the entire folder (it's his account, not mine), can I get it back? Or if I delete my entire account can I get that back?
Stuck folder across multiple users
I have a specific folder in a branch shared with multiple users, which won’t sync for none of the users who have it shared. Also, more worrying, the folder is NOT current when viewed from the web or mobile, it is stuck in a state that is not equal with any local version. Can’t create subfolders, web interface responds with an error, and local edits are not synced. Other branches work fine, even with the same users, so it’s not an issue on the local apps but on the server. I activated a rewind operation on the folder, which is also stuck, I have not received confirmation about it and 4 hrs have gone by. Folder is a small folder with indesign files.
