Dropbox Backup
17 TopicsI got notice that my account has been deleted, but I didn't do this.
I am getting the notice that my account was deleted, but I did not delete it and no one else has access to my computer. Can this be restored? This just happened yesterday and the account was synced to my computer and now all my files are gone.19Views0likes1CommentDropbox Backup skipped some files on external drive, MacOS permissions?
I added an external drive to Dropbox Backup a couple of days ago; it was large and took about 16 hours. Seemed to have worked fine, but this morning I was comparing the backup files with my drive and saw some directories hadn't been copied. I never saw any error or alert, but am suspecting it was a permissions issue. These directories are over 15 years old. But I can not find anywhere what the permissions are supposed to be for Dropbox Backup to properly copy these. I changed one to 750 but it still doesn't seem to get picked up in subsequent backups. Is this a file permissions issue?1.1KViews0likes14CommentsSuspected hacked personal account
I suspect my account hacked today so I'd like to ask for some guidance. 1. I found some files missing. I am pretty sure I created a folder and copied some files into this folder and I have used them a few times over the past two weeks, but today I found both the folder and files are missing from my Dropbox. Surprisingly I can not see any record, under event, or deleted items for these files. So I am wondering if it is possible for the hackers to delete them completely and they can never been restored? I thought it will be kept by Dropbox for 30 days as a minimum. 2. I can see a unknown computer has visited my account so I am wondering if Dropbox can provide additional details. Is an email from Dropbox (no-reply@em-s.dropbox.com) a scam? It says: "Please consider backing up your files"--through their link. I've been using Dropbox for years and always assumed everything was automatically backed up. Is it not? And is this an authentic-looking scam? Does the new Dropbox Backup automatically access all of the files on your computer and save them? If so, when did I give permission to Dropbox to put my non-Dropbox files in cloud storage? And, more importantly, how can I stop this? Please tell me how to change this unsolicited setting. Thank you.Solved1.8KViews0likes2Comments
