I have been trying to copy all of my files on my computer to drop box. I am on to pictures and have a ton - now I'm running out of space on my hard drive. Can I safely delete files from my hard drive? I am worried if I do this, my synced files in dropbox will also be deleted. Please help!Solved147KViews1like30CommentsThe alias “xyz” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found.
Hello all, In creating an alias for a folder, I learned from a coworker that it was not opening as it should. It opens for me, but not for her. I am doing this on the desktop side. I dont' know if there is a fix for this, and whether or not its because of the recent Dropbox upgrade. My computer is on the new system, no one else is. I feel like this is related to that. Is this the case? Will it go away if everyone upgrades? Thanks, TSolved146KViews0likes1CommentIs it safe to delete dropbox cache old files?
$ dropbox version Dropbox daemon version: 99.4.501 Dropbox command-line interface version: 2019.02.14 I'm running Fedora 32 on my main workstation with a 'normal' Dropbox installation, but a fairly small SSD drive. My disk hit 100% today when someone in our team dumped many Gb of data into a shared folder. I used the CLI to `dropbox exclude path/to/huge/files` and they did get removed from my drive (great!) but my disk still appeared full. Investigating, I found 297 files occupying 15Gb in ~/Dropbox/.dropbox.cache/old_files. I don't know if they are related to this problem, their modification times are from 5 days ago. They all have machine-readable names like 16ca69b67850264f29600d17d921b732 but I can tell they're the original files that were in the shared folder. I don't see any kind of "clean cache" command in the CLI help. Is it safe to delete these files? Thank you!Solved50KViews1like7CommentsHow can I find the total number of files in a folder?
Boy, am I disappointed with Dropbox. I assumed that each folder would display the number of files in that folder, without me jumping through all kinds of hoops. This seems not to be the case, however... Did anyone come up with a nifty solution to this problem?Solved41KViews5likes25CommentsCopying Files from Dropbox to portable memory stick or hard drive?

Hi! I am getting familiar with Dropbox because one of my clients uses it. We need to organize files by both folders and tagging. I can't figure out how to tag. All of my searches indicated Dropbox didn't support tagging in 2014 (!), and then maybe some support for desktop app and/or photos. I can't find anything for 2019 or 2020 other than coder stuff. Anyone who is not a coder able to tag files in Dropbox with cloud version? By the way, the forced labeling to submit this request doesn't make sense and there isn't a fit for files, folders, tags, or organizing so choosing all. 😞 Many thanks, Community and Dropbox suppport.Solved40KViews3likes6CommentsHow to remove desktop from dropbox
Somehow, all links on my laptop Desktop were copied to a Dropbox folder called "Desktop"; if I did it, it was accidental I don't know why I need that and when I delete the Desktop folder in Dropbox, all the icons disappear from the computer desktop. I assume some kind of sync issue. What I am doing wrong? I only use Dropbox for sharing files so this is a new problem for me. Thanks40KViews2likes21CommentsHelp! How to Transfer Photos From Dropbox TO iPhoto!?
I've searched the Dropbox site repeatedly. Twice, they list the answer for How to transfer photos from iPhoto to Dropbox. But, I want to do the reverse! I've emailed Dropbox: No response. By mistake, my new macbook was linked to automatically receive my photos when my iPad or iPhone connected to my computer. I believe that I've rectified that for the future. But, I find nothing about how to import my current Dropbox photos to my iPhoto on my computer. Help, please!Solved31KViews2likes11Comments
