91 TopicsZero Knowledge Encryption
I find that many Cloud services offer encryption during transfer to the service and encryption at the destination. Dropbox does this too. Unfortunately, the keys used at the destination are available to Dropbox. What would make Dropbox unique is if it would offer Zero Knowledge encryption at the client. That way all files are encrypted at the client with the customer retaining the keys. Why is this important? There can be bugs during transfer even if encryption is used (remember the famous OOPS with caches on internet servers offering up unencrypted data?). Also, the government can force Dropbox to deliver user data (or it may be compromised by hackers). Dropbox with Zero Knowledge Encryption would be a market leading solution that would drive a great preference over OneDrive, Google Drive and others. It would be the only way I would be comfortable putting my files on the cloud.Solved2.9MViews186likes30CommentsUnable to login S Mode

My system is a normal Windows 11 desktop. All the standard Libraries, including DropBox, are re-located to D:\Users\%user%\ All libraries, incl DropBox, are indexed by Windows Search for file names and contents Consequently, Windows creates a Search folder inside the Dropbox root during the index build process. with this folder tree Dropbox > Search > Data > Applications > Temp > usgthrsvc Sync Error messsages occur for the usgthrsvc folder and four other files All request "Give DropBox permission to access this file" or folder 1. How can I get rid of the error flag on the Dropbox system tray? 2. Should Dropbox Sync not be aware of the Search folder and skip it totally? No system search indexes should under any circumstances ever be uploaded elsewhere - though I'm pleased to note that the top level "Search" folder is not flagged online as shared Is it recommended to modify the folder security to give my User Read permissions? assuming the DropBox app runs with my Admin user privileges Thanks in advance Spilly502Views1like3CommentsA Photographers question on Ai Image Analysis & Ai Data Collection,- Concent, Rights & Implicaions
As a photographer is use Dropbox to transmit, store and handle my files. lately when running a search for the word "FIRE", the search function returned multiple pictures from my archive with flames in them. Question 1: has my Photography Archive been subject to Ai image analysis? (which it obviously has been...) - what kind? - by what tools? and most importantly, where did i concent to any of it? (yes i read the 'Legal' page thoroughly) disclaimer: as an event photographer i am involved in all kinds of Private, Open & Deeply personal moments from peoples lives, i have an Etheic Moral and Legal duty to protect my clients, partners, models, childrens & friends privacy, dignity and basic right not to have their likeness and very life be used to feed some data set somewhere withiout their knowlege and concent. i use Generative Ai tools as part of my personal and professional creative research, i see the potential, but am also aware of the possible implications. Question 2: has my Phototography Archive (my body of work) been compromised, sold, copied or in any other way transfered to any third party without my concent? i think you get where im going with this.... am i doomed to have my stuff be fed to the Ai data machine by simply having it on the internet? i am only asking because i am already extremely doubtfull of my future as an Artist and Creative Professional. i love Dropbox a lot and use it all the time and recommend it to everyone, i really hope i don't soon grow to regret it... would love to hear your thoughts. ~T187.Solved2.7KViews1like4CommentsCan't sign in to my account
Hi, I'm tryin to install Dropbox on my new laptop. I'm entering my user & password, and then I receive aone-time security code to my email. However - the system doesn't accept the security code (the one Dropbox is sending me on email...). Any idea why this is happening and how to deal with it? Thanks!Solved1.4KViews1like3CommentsAll of my Dropbox Personal Files Now within a Team Folder
Hello, This evening I accepted an invite to what I thought was a shared folder from a colleague. Worryingly, my Personal files now exist within this team folder. I'm worried that others may be able to see my personal files (I have a dropbox Personal account) and furthermore I can't exit the team. I just want my personal files back as they were, rather than in a sub folder of a team organisation, and I'm now concerned that when i'm removed from this Team all of my personal files will disappear. Thanks in advance. ElliotSolved1.4KViews1like6Comments32 bit 2 factor auth
Hi. I want to use Dropbox 2 factor auth on 3 machines, 2 are 64bit Android and my laptop is 32bit Linux. I have both the 2FAS and Dropbox apps on the 64bit devices, the laptop has the Dropbox download for Ubuntu Linux. There is no 2 factor application for i386 Linux but the Firefox browser has a 2FAS extension. I'm not sure if the browser extension works. I can't test it. Big question: If I configure Dropbox for 2 factor auth on my 64bit devices, will my laptop be locked out of Dropbox if the extension doesn't work? Would I be able to access Dropbox in the laptop's web browser? Thank you kindly in advance for your help.Solved1.6KViews1like6CommentsBusiness and personal account -- cannot unlink personal and link to new personal
I currently have two accounts, business and personal. My husband has his own account. With the upgrade to 2TB, we no longer need to have 2 accounts. I unlinked my personal account on my work laptop. It still has my business account. I cannot figure out how to link to my husband's account (our new shared account). Dropbox defaults to my old personal account login and will not let me edit it. If I try to use the "Google" signin, it chastizes me that I need to use my old personal login. I have gone to the Dropbox website and unlinked the devices (my work laptop) as well. Doesn't matter. Do I need to unlink my business account as well to give me a chance to link to my husband's personal account (aka, our new shared account)? Thanks for any guidance on this.Solved7.8KViews1like8Comments
