Account Access
16 TopicsWhy can't the recipients of a shared link access it from the web, but are asked to open the app?
I have a dropbox account and use it on on my iOs apps as well as app on MacBook and iMac. I want to be able to share the documents in one folder with a few people (Advance Healthcare Directive, POA, will, emergency instructions, etc.) but I don't want them to have to have the app on their iPhone or computer, but to view through browser. Previously this was possible. Now when someone tries to open the link that I shared with them it tells them they have to download the latest app. I chose DropBox on purpose because the app was not required. Any information or suggestions appreciated.Solved3.9KViews0likes8CommentsPassword protect folder?
I am trying to password protect a dropbox folder. I found this resource to add passwords to shared folders/links:https://help.dropbox.com/share/set-link-permissions#passwords?fallback=true but the above resource references a "Require Password" toggle that is not showing in my options. My options in "Link for Viewing" settings for "Who has access" are "Anyone with link" or "Only People Invited". Anyone know how to get the option to require a password to access the folder? Thanks!Solved3.6KViews0likes16CommentsRecipient of shared link is being requested to log into Dropbox account
Hi I am trying to share a DropBox link to a folder containing photos, from my MAC (using Monterey OS). I am using the Browser version of DropBox. No matter what I try to do the email recipient of the link is asked to log into her DropBox account. I have re-read many articles on this problem but I can't seem to crack it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks3KViews0likes12CommentsAccessing an Organization's Account
I have been given links to get into an account for which I serve on the Board of Directors. Each time I click the link, I am taken to my own Dropbox account, not the account of the organization. I log out of my account, click on the link I have been provided, then go straight into my own account again. I need to get into the organization account. How do I do this? My goal is to upload files to this organization's account. I cleared my cookies twice. Thank you in advance for your help.Solved1.6KViews1like9CommentsHow does Dropbox vault work internally?
I just started using Dropbox vault on Windows and I found that every time I open the vault, it seems that Dropbox downloads all files in the vault from the server to my computer. When I close the vault, it uploads all files to the Dropbox server. Is this true? If so, should I put large files in the vault? It could use a lot of bandwidth if so. I also want to know how the vault protects my files. Are my vault files encrypted on Dropbox server, or on the wire? When does the decrypt happen? Thanks.Solved1.3KViews0likes1CommentHow to find my Dropbox accounts, delete them and move files to OnSong.
I am trying to move files from my gmail account into Dropbox and then into OnSong. I seem to have 2 Dropbox accounts. I dont know how to get into each one to see what is there. One Dropbox account seems to have the files from Google in it and it says underneath the file OnSong which I am assuming means that they should be showing up in OnSong. However when I go into OnSong, none of them are there. It is such a mess I would like to star again. I would like to delete any Dropbox account I currently have and start all over again with a new Dropbox basis account, then import (?) the files I want from my gmail account Might this work. I want to make sure I delete the 2 Dropbox I currently have but don’t know how to find them. As you can see I am completely lost in how to do this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much. Kindly Robyn1.1KViews0likes5CommentsRe-enable shared links from a deleted user account on Dropbox business.
Hi, One of our team members left the company two months ago and their business Dropbox account was then deleted. There are a many reports that have been issued which contain shared Dropbox links (thousands of shared links) from this user. We are now aware that these shared links are tied to this user. The shared folders are not owned by the deleted user. Is it possible restore his Dropbox account in order to enable these links again? Is there a solution to enable these links to our shared business folder again? Can we re-create an identical email and Dropbox account and add them to the Dropbox business team, will the links function again? Any guidance or support is appreciated. Hello, today I noticed something when I tried logging into my dropbox from my personal computer, once i typed dropbox.com a link opened where there were 7 images stored in the link and the link isn't editable by me even when I log into my account The issue is that I do not remember creating such a link and it feels like it was randomly created, has anyone had a similar issue before? I am looking for any way to delete the link or edit the files in it Thanks821Views0likes2CommentsUsing Dropbox as a photo library accessed by multiple others
Hi Everyone. Can you help please. I currently manage a photo library on Dropbox through my Essentials level account, and the library is 60GB and growing. For my audience of 50 people who want access to view and download all the images as they are uploaded, will they all have to purchase better than Dropbox Basic level accounts to gain access due the library size? Is there another way as I am not sure each client company will be happy paying out for 25 or so Dropbox Plus accounts (even though I know it is much cheaper than any other solution!). Is Dropbox Teams are possible solution ? Can the client company set up one Dropbox Plus account called say, access@clientcompany.comand all their team use that single email to gain access to the photo library ? Thanks so much !Solved500Views0likes3Comments
