You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.
Dropbox Backup for external drives seems to be "by device", so when you upgrade your computer, you have to re-upload / backup every external backup drive again. There should be a feature to inherit the backup drive from a new device so as not to waste resources and storage space.
