Can we have more folder options like custom folders or sub-folders to add to Computer Backup?
Right now, the automated backup option in Dropbox allows me to sync my Documents, Desktop and Downloads folders. By far the biggest - and most important - folder on my computer is the Music folder though. I can imagine for other people it's Pictures. Could we have a way to automatically backup those folders too?
To be really ambitious: would we be able to clone our computer on Dropbox? I used to have an Apple Time Machine that allowed you to do just that. If your computer broke down or was stolen, you could buy a new one, let it download the clone, including not just your documents but your applications and presets too, and you'd be good to go!
Please let Dropbox be the new Time Machine.

Yes, there is no solution. Any year now, however, maybe. It boggles the mind to know that they once had this working in their beta version, and then somehow dropped it.

No response since last post? I am also in the same situation, it is not possible to select any folder other than the standard ones... and the version updates automatically.
Is it possible that there is no solution? - PirxHelpful | Level 6
Looking at the various and invariably confused responses coming from Dropbox-affiliated posters (moderators, mostly?), we have to ask ourselves what in all the world is happening at Dropbox? Are they living in an alternate universe? I see posts claiming that what we are asking for is possible, but there's never any evidence, and a strong suspicion that these people simply have no clue what they are talking about. So, here is what the folder selection window looks like for me, and anyone else using the latest version of the Windows Dropbox Client right now:
These are all the selections that are available, period, nothing else. We can select subfolders of the ones shown, but we cannot choose any folders outside of this hierarchy, which is what we want.
Has this been clear enough now? I repeat, the ability to choose arbitrary folders did exist at some point in the beta version of Dropbox Backup, but not any more. Why was this taken away?
And, please, quit asking for the desktop client version we are using. As you may or may not be aware, Dropbox updates its client automatically, so we are all using the latest version.

I am on Dropbox client version 201.3.5439.
In settings, I go to Manage Backups,
Then Lets get started and so on. I can only choose from predefined number of folders there. What this feature request was about, was to choose via browse ANY location, on any partition/ physical disk.
So what was implemented exactly in regards to this feature request?

I confirm- nothing was delivered at all.

Why was the status of this changed to delivered? As far as I can tell NOTHING has been delivered. I am still unable to pick any folder other than the ones from the standard set of Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, or Videos. As has been explained in here numerous times, we want to be able to generate backups for ANY folder (at least any local folder) on our computers!

great! Now, help the Linux users do the same.

I had opted in for the beta, and at first I was able to select any folder, which I did for one particular folder. However, while the folder I selected is still being backed up, now the interface does not allow me to select, or unselect arbitrary folders anymore. So, in other words, this worked for a bit, and now it doesn't anymore. I contacted Support, and I received an answer along the lines of "Well, it's a beta, so stuff should be expected to break randomly".
Oh, and before I forget, if I try to select one of the standard folders, I get the "spinning wheel" forever, and it never ends spinning. In other words, at this point there is nothing I can back up, at all. So not only can I not backup non-standard folders, I cannot back up anything at all.
Oh well, perhaps in another couple of years they will get their **bleep** together to the point of actually being able to offer the feature in a useful form. Let's just not hold our breaths, lest we suffocate...
