Allow hiding individual photos of folders from the Photos tab
The Photos Folder is not a useful tool if we are not able to decide what shows up there. I am using Dropbox to back up a Mac, so photos that are on my Mac are in those backups and also stored in other folders on Dropbox. Therefore, in the Photos Folder there are duplicate copies of each of those photos. I cannot delete either as they are on Dropbox for different purposes - one as a backup and one as part of my photo organization system in Dropbox. Without the ability to hide photos from my Photos Folder, I will need to find another way to organize my photos.

I have work files and personal files in my Dropbox. Currently the Photos area is full of .pdf, .svg, and .png charts and graphs.
The ability to exclude these files by either (1) specifying only specific folders to display in Photos or (2) excluding certain file extensions from Photos would be valuable. (1) would be best in my opinion and is already possible in Microsoft Onedrive.
I would appreciate an update on whether this is feature is likely to be added in the near future. Thank you.

I’ve noticed these options in the Photos tab of the iOS app. The “Starred” filter shows only starred photos/videos files. However, it doesn’t work when you star the whole folder, you have to star each file itself.
That’s not exactly what is being asked for in this topic, but seems like a start in the right direction.
Is this a new feature?

I recently tried using the photos view to show my partner what my life looked like a couple years ago... didn't work as well as I expected because in-between the photos I wanted to show, there were hundreds of sprites from software projects, receipts, qrcodes and other random junk pulled from folders, that have absolutely nothing to do with the word "photos". Coming from Nextcloud, I kind of expected my ".nomedia" files to take of this, or at least being able to control what folders are being shown in the settings, but that does not seem to be the case.

I completely agree with everybody else, the app is useless if you can’t hide picture taken from work, of slides at a conference, random stuff, recipies etc. No one wants to see that when you are showing people holiday snapps or picture of the grandchildren. I wish I had a better choice than using dropbox
does anybody know of some similar service where this works better ?

Again, a perfect example of why Dropbox needs to fix this! While I am not an expert in this area, this would seem like a relatively easy fix given all that can be done.

I'm a software developer, and I use Obsidian to track my development notes and daily productivity. I recently switched from Google Drive to Dropbox because of the amazing support for raw embeds, so I can directly embed my Dropbox images and videos into Obsidian to save space.
But of course, every cloud service seems to have their downfall. Google Drive wont allow raw embeds, and now Dropbox has absolutely no sense of a good photo viewer. It is IMPOSSIBLE to go through my personal photos using the photos tab, because as a developer I also have many software projects synced to my Dropbox, which ends up in random software images showing on the Images tab — sometimes even thousands of them. If I had the option to simply choose which folder to show on the images tab, I could easily only show my Camera Roll folder.
This is quite frustrating, and is the only big issue I have with Dropbox right now. What's the point of paying for 2 TB of storage if I can't even put my own personal pictures in the same place as my other documents? At least Google managed to do it with Google Photos, which uses the storage you're already paying for and has beautiful photo management.
I'd really appreciate a feature to only show one folder exclusively in the Photos tab, or to hide certain photos, and I think many others would appreciate it too.

It's been years we have been complaining about this and still no response from DropBox. Well, I guess it is time to start looking at building my own server to auto-synch my files and photos. $199/yr is overpriced for a Dropbox service that can't deliver on common sense. For 2 year's worth of Dropbox fees, I can build my own Dropbox and not pay these fees for life anymore. The lack of action on this Dropbox Community request is the nudge that will push me to do it...Good thing I have a coworker who has done it before to show me the ropes.

I have some work related items on DropBox - these should not be able to be seen by others (our whole family uses DropBox)

I've noticed that Dropbox aggregates and displays all the photos from my uploaded folders in the Photos tab. However, there are certain folders containing photos that I don't want shown in the Photos tab, as those are project process folders with a large number of in-progress photos. Having all of those displayed in the Photos tab would make it appear extremely cluttered and overwhelming. Is there a way to configure Dropbox to only scan and categorize the specific folders I want it to, rather than including everything?
