Allow a personal account to have more than 3 TB
Hello,
I'm a graphic designer with over 15 years of workload. This obviously equates to extreme files sizes. I was disappointed to learn Dropbox don't offer a package for single users over 3TB. I work solely and require more cloud space and don't want to have to upgrade to a 'per user' plan as this isn't cost effective. This option has to become available soon.

Jottacloud and Sync are 10% as good as Dropbox gets, unfortunately. Nobody uses them, and for a reason, they're cheap, slow and don't sync greatly the way Dropbox does - fast and without limits.

Thanks rafajacinto
Yeah, Sync.com seems to have all the features I need, with a few features missing, but nothing that is a deal breaker.
I have all my files on a local hard drive (because I don’t have enough space to have my archives on Dropbox), so it won’t be hard for me to move. But I do plan to use the next week or two to really tests out Sync.com and make sure it works for me before I delete Dropbox.

Buck21 Same here. Lastvyear, after 10+ years as a dropbox heavy user I quit and signed to another service called Jottacloud, from Norway (what I like because they have really strict laws regarding privacy).
The 4tb dropbox offered were no longer enough.
Jottacloud is much less expensive and it is unlimited, even thou over 5tb it gets slower. It is not the same. Dropbox interface and searching options are unbeatable in my opinion. But after months chatting with them, commenting on this forum, I decided it was not worth it.
To make it short, I got used to Jottacloud and don’t miss dropbox at all.
I keep following the discussion here to jeep updated.
Have you find a solution? Sync.com as you mentioned it?
If I can give you any advice, take some time to transfer all your files feom a service to another. I did it without downloading everything to a physical hard disk and it took me around a month using an application to do that.
Good luck and let’s move on.

I’m out. I’m cancelling my Dropbox plan this month.
I’ve been a user for over a decade and I’ve been lobbying for increased plan options for over two years, and resurrected this thread from the “Not being considered” to at least “Being evaluated”. But that was well over a year ago.
So it’s obvious they are a broken company with broken policies.
Additionally, they just changed their Business plan so it is $30/for 5TB /per user.
That is a ridiculous price when Sync.com is $15/10TB/per user.
So long Dropbox. Goodbye. Not that you care at all.

Dropbox never release roadmaps.
My own view is I cannot see this happening at the moment as they've actually reduced the quotas recently on Business plans.
In terms of the "mass exodus" there is no indications of that happening in terms of accounts/end of year stats as they are a growing company still. While that is happening they have no reason to change - because ultimately it is working for the masses.

this really feels like it’s dragging on now.
it’s inevitable they will allow more space or there’ll be an exodus.
dropbox - what are your plans pls?
we all need to know.
thankyou

I am exactly the same. With a 4TB Mac being more the norm, 3TB of files is a minimum.

Hi jackiesterna,
just my 2 cents in this now …
What I have taken to doing these days is use a second offline backup service to keep a copy of all my Dropbox files (and other folders of course) and manage the smaller Dropbox space to keep only what is needed at the time there.
It is pain at times, but we are all here because Dropbox makes some things we need in a file sharing service easy to use, and sadly the few alternatives (Google Drive, iCloud, and OneDrive are just not as good as Dropbox in file management and sharing.)
My bandwidth is not capped, so if my manual rearrangement means moving files in and out of Dropbox on a regular basis, so be it. And I believe they keep deleted files for some time, so you sort of get extra space anyway (just not much).
If you could see my drive that is backed up now, right next to my Dropbox folder is a folder called Dropbox-removed, and those two folders are what the regular offline backup system takes. There are lots of alternatives for general backup to use, some even with physical disk services that will FedEx you a copy of files if needed (not free of course). (I’m using Carbonite as there is no limit to the storage I can put there and while not as fast as Dropbox nor as convenient to use, it serves the extra space issue fairly well if I do the management.). Just sad that we have to jump through these hoops. But I finally realized, I don’t need allAnd I’ll add, these days I’m not even sure I would buy extra space anymore. DB charges way too much IMHO for the small bits one can get now. Budget is a concern for me as well, and unlimited backup keeps me safe for less money.
end of 2 cents.

Agree with the comments, "So please, if you are reading this and agree, leave you're own comment here stating that you want this feature so we can let the Dropbox Management know that they are LOSING money by not offering this service. "
I am currently looking for other storage options since I'm maxed out on Dropbox and cannot pay for 5 licenses. If anyone has alternative recommendations please post!

The pricing at Dropbox has always puzzled me, it feels we get punished for actual using the space. 60$ for an additional single TB is beyond anything that's acceptable short of a scam.
I've been starting to look at alternatives to migrate everything and close my DropBox, after a decade of loyalty to the service. Sure, it's going to be a pain for a couple of days while I have to relink many of my files, but it will be worth it for the long-term gains (both financial but also in terms of time, finally avoiding having to see what old files I can delete to stay within the 3TB limit every 2 months).
