Storing a personal music archive.

Hello all,

I have searched the threads before posting this, but there's no definitive answer besides a pointer to current Acceptable Use Policy.

I have moved recently, and my way of storing files have changed dramatically. In short, I'm slowly moving all the files lived on my desktop computer to Dropbox. Next is my personal music collection.

This collection is made of music I either bought digitally, or physically and encoded digitally for easier listening.

Is it OK for me to store these files on Dropbox to both safeguard and listen to them?

Acceptable Use Policy states the following:

"Violate the law in any way, including storing, publishing or sharing material that’s fraudulent, defamatory, or misleading, or that violates the intellectual property rights of others."

The question is, storing the music I bought legally on a service I again bought for storing my files is acceptable or not.

Thanks a lot for direct answers,

Cheers,

H

  • Hi Hakan B., thanks for bringing this to our attention.

It should be fine to store music on your Dropbox account in private folders. However, if the files are shared then it could result in the terms of service being breached.
