Do team members need a license?

I AM THE EXEC OFFICER OF A NONPROFIT ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC PORTS AND MANY OF THEM HAVE DROPBOX FOR THEIR PORT OPERATIONS, AND THEY WANT A DROPBOX ACCOUNT FOR THIS ASSOCIATION. MY QUESTION IS - IF THEY WORK FOR A PORT AND ARE ABLE TO USE THEIR PORT DROPBOX, DO THEY ALSO HAVE TO PAY TO ACCESS THE NWMTA DROPBOX ACCOUNT?

If you are sharing folders to the users, then you can have free accounts accessing the folders without needing a to add them to a team account.

However, the Dropbox Basic plan can hold up to 2 GB of quota, so it wouldn't be possible to have shared folders larger than that shared on the account.

Let me know if you need more details.

Hi NWMTA2, thanks for posting today!

Is the NWMTA Dropbox account a paid Dropbox Business team?

If so, and you want users to join your team, then you'd need to purchase extra licenses for them to be able to share your quota.

If you need any additional info, please let me know!

What are my other options than paid business accounts? If there are 16 ports who are members of the non-profit, and each port has a Dropbox account that they are paying Dropbox for the members, and the members seem to be able to access the NWMTA account in Dropbox, do I still have to pay for them all? I am in the 2 week trial period and it ends Friday and I know I want it, but I don't know if I need to pay for 16+1 persons.

Thank you. They will be deciding what to do this week. We haven't paid yet and our trial ends Friday.

Shared folders can be accessed by free accounts without having to be added to a team account, so free accounts do not need to be part of the team.

Although the Dropbox Basic plan has a quota of only 2 GB per account, it is not possible to have shared folders bigger in size than the quota that the account has.
