Dropbox has a new top level folder and my top level folders have been moved under my username; why?
This morning I find that Dropbox has a new top level "custody" folder and that my top level folders have been moved under my username.
I can't find anything on the Dropbox website about this. ...

Hey detailedfoot, welcome to the Dropbox Community!
I'm not really sure I understand what you mean by "custody" folder, would you mind giving us a bit more info here?
Have all your Dropbox files been moved to a folder with your name on it?
If so, it sounds like you probably joined a Dropbox Business team. Do you remember accepting such an invite?
It should be in your emails, if you can take a look and you can also check the plan you're on here. Do you see Dropbox Business?
Let me know what you find.

Hannah, I think you're correct. I'm on a Business Advanced plan.
Is there an intro video somewhere explaining what "teams" are useful for? Or how I can go about turning it off?

That's great! I'm happy we figured it out.
You can read more about Dropbox Business here.
However, if you need to be removed from the team, you'll need to contact a team admin (the person who invited you) and ask them to remove you.
The best way, so that you can also keep the account and any personal files you might have, would be to have them convert your account to an individual Basic account.
I hope this helps!
