How Can I Make A Single Click Direct Download link for Android?

On windows I can make a direct download link by changing the end of the download link from dl=0 to dl=1.

eg:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/zhdlsdq6ha4wwg9/Test.txt?dl=0

Changed to

https://www.dropbox.com/s/zhdlsdq6ha4wwg9/Test.txt?dl=1

Then if I  send that link, and someone clicks on it, Windows will download it immediately even if they are not a dropbox user.

Unfortunately that does no longer appear to work for Android users. When I send a link ending in dl=1 by Viber, Whatsapp or IMO etc the receipent only sees a series of options, and often doesn't know how to proceed. I have tried to explain that they need to Click 'continue to website', then click 'save a copy' without clicking on the prompts to join Dropbox. However, not everybody understands how to do this which means sending download links on Android is no longer as simple as it used to be.

Is there a way to make direct download links I can send to Android devices that will work with only one click to download?

Your advice would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Chris

Hi Chris N, I hope you're doing well!

Your feedback regarding our shared links has been very valuable and I will endeavor to make sure your voice is heard. At the moment, this isn't how shared links work on Androids.

I will pass on your comments to the relevant departments so that we can further improve our product.

    Have a lovely weekend ahead,enjoy!
